Every year, CRH makes the flu vaccine available to all employees. In 2008, Charlotte Gray and Blanche Hair decided to accept the “Flu Vaccination Challenge” posed by the Joint Commission. The Flu Vaccination Challenge is designed to increase vaccination rates among health care workers by challenging hospitals to achieve flu vaccination rates higher than the current national level at 42% among staff.
The challenge began in September 2008 and continues throughout the flu season. CRH met the challenge by kicking off the flu season with a party! The flu vaccine party was held in October to provide staff a chance to receive their inoculation and have a little fun. With an aggressive education campaign by our employee health nurse, Charlotte and her availability on days, nights and weekends to provide the vaccination to all staff throughout the hospital, we were able to inoculate an impressive 71% of staff.
Congratulations to Charlotte and Blanche for their hard work and many thanks to all CRH staff for their participation in this year’s campaign.
