DRIVE-THROUGH SEASONAL FLU SHOTS TO BE OFFERED TO THE PUBLIC

Healthcare professionals at Crittenden Regional Hospital will offer drive-through flu shots from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Thursday, October 15. Shots will be available to adults 18 years and older in the circle drive in front of the Women’s Center, off Rhodes.
Participants may stay in their vehicles and the vaccine will be administered as a curb-side convenience.
The flu shots are $20.00. Cash only. [Insurance, Medicare, checks and credit cards can not be accepted].
Seasonal Influenza is a viral infection that can lead to much more serious illnesses, like pneumonia or bronchitis, and the seasonal flu vaccine is recommended for almost everyone 65 and older. The vaccination is also important for those with lung disease or other chronic conditions, and for those who spend a lot of time with the sick or elderly.
This inoculation does not cause the flu – although it may result in a mild reaction or a sore arm at the injection site. It takes the body about two weeks post-vaccine to form antibodies, and that protection lasts about six months. To protect against the constant change in influenza viruses, annual shots are recommended.
The flu shot will not be given to pregnant women or to anyone allergic to eggs. Individuals with acute respiratory or active infections should not receive the vaccine until free from illness.
