In an effort to help protect Crittenden County’s at-risk citizens, Crittenden Regional Hospital today announced two upcoming ‘drive-through’ seasonal flu vaccine events. The inoculations will be offered to the public this season for $20.00, a 20% reduction of last year’s cost. As vaccine arrives, dates and times will be advertised in the local media.
The Hospital has begun inoculating its patient-care professionals and some susceptible inpatients. In preparation for a major outbreak, Jamie Carter, CEO, said “the Hospital has distributed seasonal flu vaccine to our pediatric clinics in West Memphis and Marion as well as to our rural health clinic in Marked Tree. We are eager to educate the public in preventive measures in partnership with local school systems, the Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta, Ga.” The medical staff is dedicated to educating the community and feels this initiative is very important.
CRH has already registered with the Arkansas Department of Health to receive supplies of the H1N1 pandemic vaccine as it becomes available in October.
Carter also said “the Hospital’s strategic plan supports a free-standing flu clinic should the need arise. Our mission compels us to provide superior healthcare, education and service to everyone.”
