Emergency Services

The Emergency Department is staffed 24 hours a day by contracted physicians. Consultation services are available at all times by hospital medical staff that are on call on a 24 hour basis. Additional patient services are provided by experienced Registered Nurses, Nurse Technicians, Emergency Department Technicians, Unit Clerks and Admission Clerks.

The Emergency Department participates in the organization-wide Performance Improvement Plan through strategic planning, quality occurrence reporting, and pertinent CQI projects.

The Emergency Department treats a high volume of ambulatory patients. High risk patients include:

  • Patients requiring transfer
    • Multiple trauma patients who are candidates for hospital admission
    • Post anti-thrombolytic patients
    • Critical pediatric patients
  • Patients requiring cardiac monitoring, airway management and resuscitation
  • Psychiatric patients (drug related)
  • Violent/Assaultive behavioral patients

The Emergency Department is a Level II unit that offers Emergency Care services 24 hours a day, seven days per week and is responsible for the immediate treatment of any medical or surgical emergency, for initiating life-saving procedures in all types of emergency situations and for providing care for other conditions, including chronic medical problems and minor injuries and illnesses.
